What is birth trauma?
Birth trauma can occur when birth has been frightening, traumatic and negative and can impact the person giving birth and/or the birth partner.
It may be because there was a feeling of being out of control, not having been treated with respect and dignity or more directly where there was fear for life.
The symptoms vary from person to person but can include, flashbacks to the birth, nightmares, anxiety, panic attacks, anger, sadness, depression, a difficulty bonding with baby or relating to your partner.
